Meet the Staff
Valerie Norman-Wickboldt, Communications Director
Valerie oversees all internal and external communication initiatives for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend, handles HR and benefit administration and assists in applying for grants. Before joining the organization, she worked as a junior account executive at CoreMessage, Inc., a Tallahassee-based public relations firm where she assisted clients with stakeholder and media relations. Valerie also served in the public relations department at VISIT FLORIDA, where she prepared story ideas for travel and tourism reporters and drafted press releases promoting Florida events and attractions. Valerie is a cum laude graduate of Florida State University’s College of Communication, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations.
Susan H. Council, Financial Manager
Susan assists the president/CEO with management of accounting practices and financial standards of the organization. Susan is also responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department including financial accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable. Prior to joining the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend, Susan served as a finance supervisor with Affiliated Computer Services where she supervised finance staff and was responsible for overseeing eight weekly and monthly bank account reconciliations and daily management of account receipts and disbursements. Susan earned her degree in English from Florida State University where she was a member of the Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society. She has served on Pop Warner boards for two years as a member and two years as an association president. She also serves on the Parent Advisory Board of the Tallahassee Area Coalition Center of Excellence National Achievers Society.
Jenny Frack, Program & Volunteer Coordinator
Jenny oversees and manages the Early Learning Coalition's subsidized child care program and coordinates special programs and volunteer outreach for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend. Before joining the organization, Jenny served as a summer camp counselor in Leesburg, Florida for four years. She also worked in Florida State University's Department of University Relations & Advancement to plan and manage special events for the university president. In addition, she served as a head resident for the Southern Scholarship Foundation overseeing house policies, officers, residents and the actions therein, and served as liaison between the Foundation and the Tallahassee community. Jenny earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Florida State University.
Zandra Gilley, Jefferson County Area Director
Zandra provides accountability for policy, procedures and practices of Clubs in Leon County and oversees the Club directors, staff and volunteers in those areas. Zandra also manages the implementation of various educational programs throughout all of the Big Bend Clubs. Before joining the organization, Zandra was a special education teacher for Jefferson County Schools. She also served as a social worker, day treatment coordinator and behavior specialist with several mental health agencies in the Big Bend region. Zandra has served in various leadership roles on the local and state level and is an active member of several educational and professional associations. She is a cum laude graduate of Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University where she earned a bachelor's and master’s degree in social work.
Kevin Ward, Franklin County Area Director
Kevin joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend in 2004, when he worked as the site director for Franklin County’s Apalachicola Club and then served as the assistant to the Franklin County area director. In his current position as the county’s interim area director, Kevin oversees the daily operations of all Franklin County Clubs and the hard working staff. Prior to joining the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend, he served in the United States Marine Corps where he worked in the communications field for four years.
